What is Thermal Imaging

About Thermal Imaging

"Infrared thermal imaging is a technique whose application in the field of health sciences allows an image to be taken of the infrared radiation produced naturally by the skin, which acts like an almost perfect dark body [7]. In this way, the technique can detect local variations in temperature, such as those that occur in inflammatory conditions associated with different pathologic abnormalities, including musculoskeletal injuries. Hence, it could act as a diagnostic complement by adding a physiologic profile study to the anatomic one [8] offered by traditional imaging studies, which could reduce the need for the latter, thus reducing population exposure to ionizing radiation."

Researchers around the world are employing infrared (IR) cameras to capture and record temperature variations on the skin for medical diagnostic purposes. By analyzing the images, researchers glean information on metabolic and vascular activity to recognize abnormal changes in physiology.

The Clinical Applications of Digital Thermal Imaging

Thermal imaging is used to study a broad number of diseases where skin temperature can reflect the presence of inflammation in underlying tissues or where blood flow is increased or decreased due to a clinical irregularity. Currently, many physicians employ thermal imaging cameras to detect a number of medical conditions, such as arthritis, repetitive strain injury, muscular pain, and circulatory problems.

Relieving Pain
Rheumatoid arthritis is a chronic autoimmune disease that can affect the hands, wrists, feet, knees, and shoulders. Arthritic joints tend to have higher temperatures than nonarthritic joints, so thermography can help physicians evaluate and monitor inflammation caused by the early stages of the disease.

Here are some pictures taken with the advertised camera, please rememember it not a $US20,000 medical type camera but it has proven to us to be very useful. The pictures below were taken first and the the questions asked after,in each case the pictutes show existing inflamation that was confirmed as pain /chronic inflamation buy the person being scanned

This person reported chronic Knee pain in the right knee, and a little pain starting in the left knee

We found reading the pictures took a little practice, and the camera is best used in a normal room temperatute setting, with no external heaters,,one also allows the camera a few seconds of adjusting before taking pictures

Painful neck and shoulders
Inflamation appears to have gone after multi pulser treatment

Thermography is a test that uses an infrared camera to detect heat patterns and blood flow in body tissues. Digital infrared thermal imaging (DITI) is the type of thermography that's used in some countries to diagnose breast cancer. DITI reveals temperature differences on the surface of the breasts.

These pictures taken outside the body are not as hot as in the pictures above.
More detail can be seen, we found that the cooler the room the more temp fluctuations could be seen.

Further investigation perhaps needs to happen,?

I can personally recommend breast thermography to any woman wanting to be proactive with their breast health. I have personally experienced the professional caring service that Clinical Thermography offer and can thoroughly recommend it as your first step in preventative breast care - Leanne James naturopath and founder Ideal Health.

Many other aplications

A thermal imaging scan in your home may potentially demonstrate the locations water leaks, air infiltration or exfiltration, poor insulation as well as damage from insects or invasion.

Automobiles, airplanes, motor cycle and boats have mechanical parts that can be measured by Thermal Imaging while the unit is under power. Measuring the temperature of engine components can be used to assess conditions. For internal combustion engines variation in the temperature of cylinders will provide clues to the efficiency of the engine.

"Trees produce very low metabolic energy by comparison to other living organisms. This means most of the heat energy emitted
from the surface of the trunk and limbs has previously been absorbed from the environment. Sound, healthy wood has good
connectivity and water distribution between cells. This is seen by the infrared camera as even heat dissipation over the tree’s surface."

A thermal imaging scan on your pet could save much pain in the future
