Are Colloidal Silver
Nanoparticles Harmful to Human Cells?
Anti-silver environmentalist groups such as the International
Center for Technology Assessment (ICTA) and the Friends
of the Earth (FOE) claim that silver nanoparticles
are harmful to human cells.
But the idea that silver nano-particles are harmful
to human cells is ridiculous at face value.
In fact, as far back as the 1970's and 80’s
the late Dr. Robert O. Becker, M.D. conducted groundbreaking
research at Syracuse Medical University using tiny,
electrically generated, sub-microscopic silver particles.
And in human trials he found absolutely no harm to
cells or tissues.
This, even though in many cases he generated the
tiny sized silver particles directly into the tissue
and bone of his patients using a low-voltage electrical
device and pure silver mesh, or silver electrodes that
were surgically implanted into his patients' infected
wound sites. Not only did the silver nano-particles
cure the infections (including many antibiotic-resistant
cases of osteomyelitis), they also triggered bone healing
and tissue regeneration -- hardly a harmful result.
What
about toxicity? Can colloidal silver be harmful?
A 2006 clinical study from BYU (published
in Current Science, Vol. 91, No. 7, 10 October
2006) documented the fact that adding colloidal
silver to an antibiotic drug such as penicillin
actually increases the efficacy of the antibiotic
by a factor of as much as tenfold when used
against antibiotic-resistant microbes.
In other words, the study demonstrated that standard
antibiotics – including penicillin -- tend
to work significantly better against antibiotic-resistant
microbes when colloidal silver is added!
I n fact, since way back in the late 1800’s
when medical researchers first learned how to run
currents of electricity through pure silver wire
suspended in water and created the first crude
colloidal silver solution, colloidal silver has
never lost its powerful infection-fighting qualities
against the myriad of pathogens it’s been
used to treat.

Primitive one-celled life uses a different method
of oxygen metabolism.

A fungus is a series of single
cells having tiny tubes of the material of the
