How healthy is your fresh fruit, vegetables, fresh
meat and fish?
Fertilizers that contain necessary elements for
plant growth are used for cultivating fruits and
vegetables. However, misuse of production technology,
usage of prohibited fertilizers, pesticides and chemicals,
as well as an increased level of fertilizer concentrations
in the soil can all result in a serious damage to
your health. Of all the substances that are transferred
to the soil from fertilizers, nitrates are one of
the most harmful if consumed in excess. Continuous
intake of food with a high nitrate content may lead
to an elevated risk of serious diseases.
Are you being exposed to dangerous agricultural
chemicals? Many farmers apply too much fertilizer.
This can result in unsafe levels of fruit nitrate
and vegetable nitrate content. It's especially dangerous
to children.
Nitrates and nitrites in fruit vegetables meat
and fish: The risk to human health
"Multiple [epidemiological]
studies have found a relationship between
processed meat intake and increased risk
of colorectal cancer," said Amanda Cross,
an investigator in the division of cancer
epidemiology and genetics at the National
Institute of Health. One possible explanation: "In
addition to nitrate and nitrite, it is possible
that there are other components of processed
meats that are responsible for the associations
observed with colorectal cancer." |
Most health conscious people know about
the dangers of pesticides in fresh fruit and vegetables.
Few are aware that Meat fish fresh fruit and vegetables
expose them to dangerous nitrates.

Nitrates cause serious
disease
It has long been established that excessive nitrates
are harmful to health.
Excessive nitrate consumption causes blue baby syndrome
and adult methemoglobinemia. Nitrates significantly
increase the risk of diabetes, Alzheimer's and Parkinson's
disease and certain types of cancer.
Some researchers believe that the dramatic rise
in cancer of the esophagus recorded over recent decades
can be attributed to excessive nitrates in fruit
and vegetables.
Nitrate content in
fresh produce is unregulated
Due to the dangers, most jurisdictions tightly control
the nitrate content of meat products. Food producers
who add nitrates to meat must comply with strict
regulations and labelling requirements.
Unfortunately nitrate levels in fresh fruit and
vegetables are unregulated and unchecked in most
places. There are no standards for producers or labelling
requirements for sellers.
This is a risk factor. Improper farming and storage
methods can result in excessive nitrate content in
fruit and vegetables. Because there is no testing
for nitrate levels at any point in the supply chain,
consumers of fresh fruit and vegetables are exposed
to unnecessary danger.
"In Germany and South Africa the drinking
water standard for nitrate is 4.4 ppm -- more
than twice as strict as the U.S. standard of
10 ppm (Kross, et al. 1995). The European Economic
Community has established a nitrate health
guideline of 5.6 ppm, and studies of infants
in Europe have found that three to four percent
of methemoglobinemia cases in infants occurred
at doses lower than 10 ppm (Sattelmacher 1964;
Simon 1962). Clearly, health authorities in
many other countries believe that nitrate poses
an unacceptable risk to infants and children
below the current EPA standard of 10 ppm." Source |
Healthy eaters are
most at risk
No food is ever completely safe. Even fresh fruit
and vegetables can make people sick from contamination
from bacteria, pesticides and other residues. Consumers
are largely protected from these risks by testing
and regulatory oversight. However they are not protected
from excessive nitrate content in fresh fruit vegetables,
meat and fish etc. There is no oversight.
Because of this negligence, health conscious people
who who eat healthy amounts of raw and lightly cooked
fresh foods have a greater risk of consuming harmful
nitrates.
More dangerous than
pesticides?
People seeking healthier food often choose produce
that's grown organically without pesticides and herbicides.
But that organic label can provide a false sense
of security.
Fruit and vegetables certified organic may still
contain high levels of nitrates, absorbed from over
application of natural fertilizers such as manure.
So while avoiding harmful inorganic contaminants
the consumer may be exposed to unsafe nitrate levels.
Currently the only way to know your food is completely
safe is by analyzing the nitrate content of the food
you eat.
Nitrate levels in fruit, vegetables meat and fish
can now be measured quickly, easily, and accurately
with Greentest, the portable nitrate detector by
our company.
GreentestEco4 is a 2-in-1 nitrate and radiation
testing device. Developed using the latest in nitrate
and radiation testing technology, the innovative
GreentestEco4 detects nitrate levels in 64 of the
most commonly consumed fruit and vegetables as well
as all types of meat. Additionally, GreentestEco4
can detect the background radiation in your immediate
environment alerting you to unsafe radiation exposure.
GreentestEco4’s unique rapid analysis feature
can tell you in just 3 seconds if your food or environment
is harmful to your health.
GREENTEST
A scientific approach to food safety
Greentest works by measuring the electrical conductivity of the fruit
or vegetable matter being tested.
Lower resistance = higher nitrate content
The presence of nitrate ions in organic matter measurably increases conductivity.
This measurement differs according to the ion concentration and cell
structure of the fruit or vegetable under test.
Calibrated through extensive testing..
Our scientists developed the Greentest nitrate content protocols by using
a mass spectrometer to determine nitrate levels in a large number of
fruit and vegetable specimens.
Testing a range of specimens under laboratory conditions allowed us to
establish normative levels for various fruit and vegetable species.
A high degree of accuracy
The results were applied to test algorithms which
have been coded into the Greentest device. The device
has been extensively back-checked against specimens
that were subsequently tested with a mass spectrometer.
The device is certified to be more than 90% accurate according to third
party testing.
This is more than sufficient to produce a valid assessment of nitrate
content.

Our company dedicates ourselves to changing the quality of life and protecting
us and our children from the infringement of harmful impurities, nitrates
and nitrites. As a result, a revolutionary new food safety testing
device Greentest, has been developed, which allows detecting fruits
and vegetables cultivated improperly and evaluating the concentration
of nitrates. It helps us satisfy our "greenlife" desires
to rub the lamp.

GREENTEST
How It Works
It only takes 3 seconds to check the health of your
fruit vegetables meat and fish.
Vegetables and fruits contains various amounts
of salt ions, 98% of which are nitrate ions.
The Greentest probe applies a precisely regulated
electrical current to a fruit or vegetable specimen.
The proprietary Greentest algorithm accurately
calculates the specimen's nitrate content by comparing
its electrical conductivity against a database obtained
from exhaustive mass spectrometer testing of similar
specimens under laboratory conditions.
The results displayed are certified
to be more than 90% accurate according to third party
testing more than enough to determine the safety
of the specimen.

What experts say
In
order to obtain maximum health benefits from consuming
the recommended intake of vegetables, it has become
more and more important to ensure that the fruit
and vegetables that we put into our bodies and those
of our loved ones are safe by reducing nitrate and
nitrite exposure as much as possible. - Priscilla
Lau, Hong Kong dietitian
To
ensure the maximum health benefit taken from vegetable
and fruit, whether the food we eat is up to the nitrate
and nitrite safety standards is more important than
before.- Liyi Lau, Hong Kong Nutritionist
Nitrates
occur naturally in our fruits and vegetables, a small
amount isn't harmful, but our body converts an excess
of nitrates into nitrites. And when nitrites get
into the stomach, the acidic conditions may cause
it to form nitrosamine, which is carcinogenic and
may be seriously harmful to our health. According
to the World Health Organization we currently ingest
10 times more nitrites than recommended amount. Eating
fresh fruits and vegetables is a good thing, but
you can't see the healthiest by just looking at the
outside.- Dr. Robertusvan Schie, Dutch medical scientist
