Peace of mind is often not that expensive
Like diehard fans camping out overnight to be the first
in line for concert tickets to their favorite performer,
people are waiting in long lines hoping to get the flu vaccine.
Yes, it's that time of year -- flu season and the media and
the government have stirred the public into complete panic
mode. Headlines flood newspapers reading, "Vaccine shortage
leads public crisis" and on the hour radio broadcasts
are bombarding the public with reports that the flu epidemic
is coming and there aren't enough vaccines to fight it.
Before
You Run Out to Get the Flu Shot ... Do Your Homework
It's becoming increasingly difficult to separate
facts from the hype created by the media and government
officials. In order to make an informed decision of whether
or not to get the flu shot, it is of utmost importance
to do your homework. This involves doing thorough research
of the safety issues surrounding the flu vaccination and
then learning the preventative measures against getting
the flu in the first place.
The Target Markets for the Flu Vaccine: Elderly
and Children
Generally, the flu vaccine is recommended for people
ages 65 and older and to those with serious medical conditions
that could quickly worsen as a result of serious complications
from the flu. Reports from medical journals widely vary
in the effectiveness for the elderly, ranging from 0 to
85 percent.
The CDC reports that 90 percent of deaths from influenza
occur among the elderly. These kinds of statistics make
it nearly impossible to credit the flu vaccine for prolonging
lives in this age group, as 65 percent of all deaths (regardless
of the cause) happen among the elderly.
Further, there are potential dangers to the flu
vaccine, particularly to the already vulnerable elderly
population. Dr. Hugh Fudenberg, one of the world's leading
immunogeneticists, states the chances of getting Alzheimer's
disease is 10 times higher if an individual has five consecutive
shots than if they have one, two or no shots. This is likely
due to the thimerosol (a mercury-derived preservative)
and aluminum content of the vaccine.
In 1834, the German obstetrician F. Crede administered
1% silver nitrate to the eyes of newborn infants, virtually
eliminating the incidence of disease causing blindness
in newborn babies. however, it was not until the late
1800's that Western scientists were able to prove what
had been known in Eastern medicine for thousands of years...that
silver was a proven germ fighter! Once the discovery
was made that the body's chief fluids were colloidal
in nature, the endless possibilities which could occur
from the use of colloids in medicine were recognized.
As a result, a silver solution known as Colloidal Silver
became widely used in medicine as one of the main-stays
of antimicrobial treatment, until money became an issue. "What
we actually have done, was rediscover that silver kills
bacteria", stated Dr. Robert Becker M. D. "It
is non-toxic in micro-concentrations of 3-5 parts per
million."

Recommendations to give flu vaccinations to children
were adopted on March 1, 2003. These recommendations include
vaccinating children between 2 and 18 years who live in
households containing children younger than 2 years of
age. The most common type of flu vaccine given to children
is called Fluzone, with each dose containing 25 ug of mercury.
CDC recommendations include administering the flu vaccine
to children beginning at six months of age and then on
an annual basis, for the rest of their lives.
Does the Flu
Vaccine Really Work?
The flu vaccine can actually weaken the immune system
and make you more predisposed to the illness.
The flu vaccine, whether in the shot or nasal form,
is worthless at best and should be avoided. Not only are
they loaded with toxic chemicals including mercury and
aluminum, but many people come down with the flu shortly
after receiving the shot. This is because it actually weakens
the immune system, making the person more predisposed to
the illness.
Regular flu
has killed
thousands since January
• Swine flu getting focus, but so far it's
not deadly in United States
• Since January, more than 13,000 have died of complications from seasonal
flu
• Worldwide annual death from the flu estimated between 250,000 and 500,000
• About 9 out of 10 flu deaths are among people older than 65
April 28, 2009 -- By Doug Gross
(CNN) -- There had been no confirmed deaths in the United
States related to swine flu as of Tuesday afternoon. But
another virus had killed thousands of people since January
and is expected to keep killing hundreds of people every
week for the rest of the year.
People are nervous about swine flu, but the regular flu
kills 36,000 people a year in the United States.
That one? The regular flu.
An outbreak of swine flu that is suspected in more than
150 deaths in Mexico and has sickened dozens of people in
the United States and elsewhere has grabbed the attention
of a nervous public and of medical officials worried the
strain will continue to mutate and spread.
Experts are nervous that, as a new strain, the swine flu
will be harder to stop because there aren't any vaccines
to fight it.
But even if there are swine-flu deaths outside Mexico --
and medical experts say there very well may be -- the virus
would have a long way to go to match the roughly 36,000 deaths
that seasonal influenza causes in the United States each
year.
"That happens on an annual basis," Dr. Brian Currie
said Tuesday. Currie is vice president and medical director
at Montefiore Medical Center in Bronx, New York.
Mexico closes public
places to prevent swine flu spread
Since January, more than 13,000 people have died of complications from seasonal
flu, according to the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention's weekly report
on the causes of death in the nation.
No fewer than 800 flu-related deaths were reported in any
week between January 1 and April 18, the most recent week
for which figures were available.
The report looks at deaths in the 122 largest cities in
the United States. Worldwide, the annual death toll from
the flu is estimated to be between 250,000 and 500,000.
Tamiflu Warnings
Before starting a Tamiflu treatment you should inform
your doctor if you are allergic to any of the drug’s
components.
Tamiflu has caused birth defects when tested on pregnant
animals (it hasn’t been tested on pregnant women).
Therefore if you are carrying a baby or are planning
to be pregnant soon you should not start a Tamiflu treatment
without consulting your doctor.
Tamiflu can pass into breast milk. It is advisable that
a nursing mother should ask a doctor before starting
a treatment with the drug.
If you are suffering from any of the following disorders,
inform your doctor before starting a treatment with Tamiflu:
•
Kidney ailments
•
Heart problems
•
Viral infections besides influenza A / B
•
Liver diseases
•
Lung Problems

About 9 out of 10 of those deaths are among people older
than 65, Currie said. Most times, they already have health
problems that the flu makes worse, he said.
"Regular influenza can be taxing," he said. "It
causes their underlying disease to decompensate and then
they don't have the reserves to get through it."While
it may not be the direct cause listed on the death certificate,
it certainly contributed."
One of the reasons medical experts are nervous about the
swine flu outbreak is that many of the people who have died
in Mexico have been young and otherwise healthy. The strains
found in the United States have so far been weaker.
But even the regular flu is sometimes fatal for younger
victims. "It's not unheard of. It happens, either directly
from influenza or they get a bacterial superinfection" like
staph, said Currie.
While researchers haven't developed a vaccine to fight the
new swine flu, it can be treated with antiviral drugs Tamiflu
and Relenza, the same drugs used on the regular flu.
Adverse effects
Common adverse drug reactions (ADRs) associated with
oseltamivir therapy include: nausea, vomiting, diarrhea,
abdominal pain, and headache. Rare ADRs include: hepatitis
and elevated liver enzymes, rash, allergic reactions
including anaphylaxis, and Stevens-Johnson syndrome.
(Rossi, 2006)
Various other ADRs have been reported in postmarketing
surveillance including: toxic epidermal necrolysis,
cardiac arrhythmia, seizure, confusion, aggravation
of diabetes, and haemorrhagic colitis. |
Many times, seasonal
flu itself is tough to prevent because it has mutated to
a form different than it was when the vaccine
was made. Seeking to put the swine flu outbreak in perspective
Tuesday, Los Angeles County public health officer Dr. Jonathan
Fielding echoed other public officials calling it "cause
for concern, but not for alarm."
"Given the size of L.A. County, given the traffic between
here and Mexico, it would be very surprising if we didn't
have any cases," Fielding said. He said the county,
where the CDC had confirmed 10 cases of swine flu by Tuesday,
sees more than 1,000 flu-related deaths every year."So
it would also not be surprising if there were deaths with
swine flu -- even if it had the pattern of seasonal flu," he
said. "Thus far, the pattern we see in the United States
is very similar to that of seasonal flu -- relatively mild
to moderate cases.

oseltamivir
In November 2006, the United States Food and Drug Administration
(FDA) amending the warning label to include the possible
side effects of delirium, hallucinations, or other related
behavior.[3] This went further than the FDA's previous
pronouncement, from a year before, that there was insufficient
evidence to claim a causal link between oseltamivir use
and the deaths of 12 Japanese children (only two were
from neurological problems, although more have died since
then). [4] The change to a more cautionary stance was
attributed to 103 new reports that the FDA received of
delirium, hallucinations and other unusual psychiatric
behavior, mostly involving Japanese patients, received
between August 29, 2005 and July 6, 2006. This was an
increase from the 126 similar cases logged between the
drug's approval in 1999 and August 2005. [10]

Silver
Silver compounds were used to prevent infection in World
War I before the advent of antibiotics. Silver nitrate solution
was a standard of care but was largely replaced by silver
sulfadiazine cream (SSD Cream),[12] which was generally the "standard
of care" for the antibacterial and antibiotic treatment
of serious burns until the late 1990s.[13] Now, other options,
such as silver-coated dressings (activated silver dressings),
are used in addition to SSD cream. However, the evidence
for the effectiveness of such silver-treated dressings is
mixed and although the evidence is promising it is marred
by the poor quality of the trials used to assess these products.[14]
Consequently a major systematic review by the Cochrane Collaboration
found insufficient evidence to recommend the use of silver-treated
dressings to treat infected wounds.[14]

The widespread use of silver went out of fashion with the
development of modern antibiotics. However, recently there
has been renewed interest in silver as a broad-spectrum antimicrobial.

to Tamiflu treatment
WASHINGTON, March 3 (UPI) -- U.S. doctors say influenza
A(H1N1), a common strain of the flu virus, is showing
almost complete resistance to oseltamivir, known as Tamiflu.
Influenza A(H1N1) accounted for an estimated 19 percent
of U.S. flu cases last year, the Journal of the American
Medical Association reported Monday. While 12 percent
of the 1155 influenza cases tested last year were resistant
to the drug. this year 98.5 percent of influenza A
(H1N1) cases tested are showing resistance.

Colloidal
silver-the amazing
"micro-bullet"
Fortunately, the timely re-emergence of Colloidal Silver
due to new technology and much reduced costs in production,
may prove to be one of the best remedies that the public
now has to protect themselves.
"And now it's silver that is finding wholly new
uses as a wonder in modern medicine...perhaps it soon
will be recognized as OUR MIGHTIEST GERM FIGHTER." (Science
Digest, March 1978.) Silver is considered to be one
of the most universal antibiotic substances known.
Jim Powell reported in the Science Digest article quoted
above, that an antibiotic kills perhaps 7 different
disease organisms, but silver kills some 650. Resistant
strains fail to develop. Moreover, silver is non-toxic!
|
New evidence on the effectiveness of an old remedy has surfaced over the past
couple of years. Long forgotten since the 1930s when pharmceutical antibiotics
first took the stage as rapidly effective, more economical wonder drugs,
colloidal silver has again emerged as a star player in natural health care.
There are almost no disease-causing organisms that can live
in the presence of even minute traces of the chemical element
silver. In contrast to a modern antibiotic drug which may
kill perhaps half a dozen pathogenic organisms, silver -
one of the most universal antibiotic substances known - can
kill over 650 different disease organisms, with the exception
of spore-forming bacteria.(7 8 9)
Q. If silver is such a potent anti-microbial agent,
why isn’t it used by mainstream medicine to treat
people with illnesses for which there may be no other
help?
A. First of all, there is a mindset within the “medical
establishment” that believes that no method or
product is valid unless it has gone through their filter
of approval.( eg Double blind studies)Some of this
comes from an inherent academic and intellectual arrogance
that
often
pervades
any
field or professional in which a higher level of education
is required. But the primary reason is that the medical
education system, as well as the lion’s share
of research, is funded by companies and organizations
that have a vested interest in ensuring that only more
profitable patentable medicines/drugs are approved.
Products such as silver and water are probably not
patentable and would not be as profitable. This same
establishment almost never gives “alternative
and/or natural” remedies any scientific study
or research to truly determine if they can work or
not. I also question whether or not this system truly
wants to cure anything; there is more profit in the
long term treatment of a disease than there is in curing
a disease. An indication of this is the fact that most
mainstream products temporarily treat symptoms rather
than curing the underlying causes of disease. Notwithstanding
diseases caused by micro-organisms, I believe that
most of the ailments of man and animal are generally
triggered by mineral deficiencies. These deficiencies
can also cause us to have a lower resistance to microbes. |
Colloidal silver, a suspension of like-charged microscopic
particles in deionized water, has demonstrated remarkable
ability to destroy not onlv bacteria, but viruses and fungi
as well.(5,6,7) These organisms cannot develop resistance
to silver - a bonus advantage over pharmaceutical antibiotics.
In addition, colloidal silver products containing only 3-5
parts per million are non-toxic.
The comeback of silver in medicine began in the
1970's. The late Dr. Carl Moyer, chairman of Washington
University's
Department of Surgery, received a grant to develop better
treatment for burn victims. Dr. Harry Margraf of St.
Louis, as the chief biochemist, worked with Dr. Moyer
and other surgeons to find an antiseptic strong enough,
yet safe, to use over larger areas of the body. Dr. Margraf
reviewed 22 antiseptic compounds and found drawbacks
in all of them. (SILVER IS USED IN ALL MAJOR BURN CENTERS
IN THE UNITED STATES. UCLA MEDICAL LABS FOUND IT EFFECTIVE
ON EVERY VIRUS THEY TESTED IT ON.)
He noted that many of these antibiotics were ineffective
against a number of harmful bacteria, including the
biggest killer in burn cases - greenish blue bacterium
called Pseudomonas acruginose. Extensive trials proved
silver to be the most effective and is currently used
in all major burn centers in the United States. |
How to use colloidal silver
At the onset of colds and flu, 1 to 3 teaspoons taken 3-4 times per day orally
will hasten the illness to its completion. Colloidal silver can be mixed
in a little water or absorbed sublingually (under the tongue) directly into
the bloodstream. The product has very little effect on beneficial intestinal
bacteria. However, a high-potency acidophilus supplement is recommended to
insure that desirable levels are maintained during colloidal silver therapy.
Consistent daily use could significantly reduce the incidence of infection.
Colloidal silver may also be applied directlv to cuts, scrapes,
open sores, shingles, warts or used as a rinse for acne,
eczema and other skin irritations. It may be gargled, dropped
into the eyes or ears, used vaginally, anally, atomized or
inhaled into the nose or lungs. No known adverse side effects
and no drug interactions have ever been recorded with the
use of properly prepared colloidal silver.(7) Beware of heavily
concentrated forms (more than 5 parts per million) which
can cause a permanent graying of the skin called argyria,
if taken in excesively high doses...
Cosmetic Argyria is a harmless skin condition resulting
from the internal ingestion of too muich silver.

Look for quality products
The best colloidal silver products have been manufactured using the electrocolloidal
process and have ultra-fine particles within the range of 0.005-0.015 microns
in diameter. A tiny electrical charge placed on the silver particles keeps
them in suspension and eliminates the need for stabilizers, chemicals, proteins
or artificial additives in a "true" colloid of silver. A superior
quality product will have a natural golden yellow color and a pH of approximately
6.5 (almost neutral).
