CHAKRA BALANCING

Chakra is a Sanskrit word that literally means "wheel".A chakra is believed to be a center of activity that receives, assimilates, and expresses life force energy. The word chakra literally translates as wheel or disk and refers to a spinning sphere of bioenergetic activity emanating from the major nerve ganglia branching forward from the spinal column. Generally, Seven of these wheels are described, stacked in a column of energy that spans from the base of the spine to the top of the head, It is the seven major chakras that correlate with basic states of consciousness

Each chakra in your spinal column is believed to influence or even govern bodily functions near its region of the spine. Because autopsies do not reveal chakras, most people think they are a fancy of fertile imagination. Yet their existence is well documented in the traditions of the Far East...

A number of mystical traditions talk about subtle energies that flow through the body, and identify specific parts of the body as being subtle centres. There are many similarities between systems, however, none of these traditions developed in isolation; the Indian mystical traditions had contact with the Chinese and Islamic mystical traditions, and they may have mutually influenced one another. Similarly, the Jewish and Islamic mystical traditions shared a great deal in common, especially during the Islamic occupation of Spain, and Jewish mysticism in particular had influence over Christian mysticism.

Qigong, the DantianQigong also relies on a similar model of the human body as an energy system, except that it involves the circulation of qi (ki, chi) energy.[41][42] The Qi energy, equivalent to the Hindu Prana, flows through the energy channels called meridians, equivalent to the nadis, but 2 other energies are also important, Jing, the sexual energy, and Shen, or spirit energy.

In the principle circuit of qi, called the Microcosmic orbit, energy rises up a main meridian along the spine, but also comes back down the front torso. Throughout its cycle it enters various dantians (elixir fields) which act as furnaces, where the types of energy in the body (jing, qi and shen) are progressively refined.[43] These dantians play a very similar role to that of chakras. The number of dantians varies depending on the system; the navel dantian is the most well-known (it is called the Hara in Japan), but there is usually a Dantian located at the heart and between the eyebrows.[44] The lower dantian at or below the navel transforms sexual essence, or jing, into qi energy. The middle dantian in the middle of the chest transforms qi energy into shen, or spirit, and the higher dantian at the level of the forehead (or at the top of the head), transforms Shen into wuji, infinite space of void.[45]

In Western culture, a concept similar to that of prana can be traced back as far as the 18th century's Franz Anton Mesmer, who used "animal magnetism" to cure disease. However it was only in 1927 that the shakta theory of seven main chakras, that has become most popular in the West, was introduced, largely through the translation of two Indian texts: the Sat-Cakra-Nirupana, and the Padaka-Pancaka, by Sir John Woodroffe, alias Arthur Avalon, in a book titled The Serpent Power.[11] This book is extremely detailed and complex, and later the ideas were developed into the predominant Western view of the chakras by C. W. Leadbeater in his book The Chakras. Many of the views which directed Leadbeater's understanding of the chakras were influenced by previous theosophist authors, in particular Johann Georg Gichtel, a disciple of Jakob Böhme, and his book Theosophia Practica (1696), in which Gitchtel directly refers to inner force centers, a concept reminiscent of the chakras.

Dr Hiroshi Motoyama
"… We may define the chakra as an energy centre which spins like a wheel and opens like a flower. Metaphysical concepts, however, do not belong purely to the world of spiritual experience; scientific enquiry has in many cases confirmed age-old beliefs.

Dr Hiroshi Motoyama bridges the world of the scientific and the spiritual with dual authority. He is both a scientist and a Shinto priest. Motoyama is the founder of the International Association for Religion and Parapsychology. In 1974 he was recognised by UNESCO [United Nations Educational, Scientific and Cultural Organization] as one of the world's ten foremost parapsychologists. He is especially interested to verify scientifically the claims put forward by proponents of spiritual practices. Several significant experiments have been conducted under his auspices.

He has specifically developed a Chakra Instrument which is designed to detect minute electrical, magnetic and optical changes which occur in the immediate environment of the experimental subject. In a typical experimental situation, the subject sat in an electrostatically secure room which was internally lined with aluminium sheeting and shielded by lead sheeting embedded in the walls. A round copper electrode and photo-electric cell were placed in front of the body, level with the location of a supposed chakra. During one test on the centres of the stomach and heart, the subject was monitored for a period of three minutes at each of the two locations. Separate readings were taken one minute before a state of concentration, during concentration, and one minute after concentration.

Curiously, when an advanced yoga practitioner was tested, the two centres gave quite different results. The stomach centre showed no change in measurable activity during the three-minute monitoring period. However, the heart centre showed a considerable intensification of measurable activity during the period of concentration. This difference corresponded to the subject's regular spiritual practice. He regularly meditated on the heart centre during meditation. The subject did not as a rule use the solar plexus chakra as a focal point for meditation as he suffered from a serious digestive disorder.

When working with another subject, Motoyama found that the increased activity of the heart chakra was sufficient to produce a measurable effect which was detected by the photo-electric cell. In other words the activity of the heart chakra was enough to produce a weak but measurable physical light. Moreover the subject was asked to press a button whenever she thought that she experienced the emission of psi-energy. The subjective feelings corresponded to the objectively measured periods of activity. It was experiments like these which were conducted with 100 subjects which led Motoyama to conclude 'that mental concentration on a chakra activates it' [Motoyama, The Theories of the Chakras, p.274]."

The human energy field.

It has long been known that activities of cells and tissues generate electrical fields that can be detected on the skin surface. But the laws of physics demand that any electrical current generates a corresponding magnetic field in the surrounding space. Since these fields were too tiny to detect, biologists assumed they could have no physiological significance.

This picture began to change in 1963. Gerhard Baule and Richard McFee of the Department of Electrical Engineering, Syracuse University, Syracuse, NY detected the biomagnetic field projected from the human heart. They used two coils, each with 2 million turns of wire, connected to a sensitive amplifier.

In 1970, David Cohen of MIT, using a SQUID magnetometer, confirmed the heart measurements. By 1972, Cohen had improved the sensitivity of his instrument, enabling him to measure magnetic fields around the head produced by brain activities.

Close to a century ago, Rudolph Steiner said the greatest discovery of 20th century science would be that the heart is not a pump but vastly more, and that the great challenge of the coming ages of humanity would be, in effect, to allow the heart to teach us to think in a new way. Now, that sounds extremely occult, but we find it's directly, biologically the case.

Subsequently, it has been discovered that all tissues and organs produce specific magnetic pulsations, which have come to be known as biomagnetic fields. The traditional electrical recordings, such as the electrocardiogram and electroencephalogram, are now being complemented by biomagnetic recordings, called magnetocardiograms and magnetoencephalograms. For various reasons, mapping the magnetic fields in the space around the body often provides a more accurate indication of physiology and pathology than traditional electrical measurements.

The heart produces two and a half watts of electrical energy at each pulsation, creating an electromagnetic field identical to the electromagnetic field around the earth. The electromagnetic field of the heart surrounds the body from a distance of twelve to twenty-five feet outward and encompasses power waves such as radio and light waves which comprise the principle source of information upon which the body and brain build our neural conception and perception of the world itself. This verifies all sorts of research from people such as Karl Pribram [+, ++] over a thirty year period, and opens up the greatest mystery we'll ever face.

Roger Penrose, for instance, in England, has just recently come out with a new mathematics to prove that where dendrites meet at the synapse -- of which you've got trillions in your body and brain -- is an electromagnetic aura. And, we find that the electromagnetic field of the heart produces, holographically, the same field as the one produced by the earth and solar system. Now, physicists are beginning to look at the electro-magnetic auras as, simply, the organization of energy in the universe. All these are operating holographically -- that is, at the smallest, unbelievably tiny level between the dendrites at the synapse, the body, the earth, and on outward. All are operating holographically and selectively. Source

The chakras are energy vortexes located all throughout the body. There are seven chakras in total, and they are responsible for not only your physical health, but also your emotional, mental, and spiritual health as well. Each chakra has it’s own unique frequency, when the interaction of these frequencies are balanced, you feel peaceful and at perfect harmony with yourself as well as towards other people. When they are off balance, it can have significant negative effects. An unbalanced chakra, is unable to fulfill it’s energy contribution to the body. This can have negative psychological and physical consequences on an individual. Anger, depression, constipation, lack of concentration, and sexual dysfunctions are just a few examples of symptoms due to an unbalanced chakra system

"When we receive very good or very bad news our cardiac part is shaken, and in some cases cardiac attacks can happen. Haven't we heard people say "my heart feels happy" or "my heart is suffering"? This means that we are exchanging vibrations through our Cardiac Chakra.
Does't our body feel bad, don't we feel pain in the pit of our stomach when we are in a heavy athmosphere or in the presence of a negative or inharmonious person? In these cases we are exchanging vibrations through our umbilical Chakra.
When we emit a thought or idea we are exchanging vibrations through our crown Chakra."

Any number of things can easily jostle our chakra system and cause these frequencies to become out of tune. Whether it be a traumatic experience, a drop in temperature, or even a stressful incident at work. The balance of our chakra system is so fragile. Just the same as how a guitar needs to be tuned from time to time our chakra system is the same way.

Although the existence of the Chakras are accepted in the east it is not so readily recognized in the west. In fact it is not so uncommon to be greeted with a look of bewilderment at the very mention of the word, followed by utter scepticism and scorn when attempting to explain their purpose.

“Everything in Life is Vibration” – Albert Einstein More

Professor Valerie Hunt
" Ever since the 1960s there has been much loose talk about raising vibrations. Over-used though this phrase may be, it should not be dismissed. For the past twenty years, Valerie Hunt, a professor of kinesiology [the study of human movement], has measured human electromagnetic output under different conditions. Using an electro-myograth, which records the electrical activity of the muscles, Hunt, like Motoyama [Dr Hiroshi Motoyama, scientist and Shinto priest], recorded radiations emanating from the body at the sites traditionally associated with the chakras. Through her research she made the startling discovery that certain types of consciousness were related to certain frequencies.

She found that when the focus of a person's consciousness was anchored in the physical world, their energy field registered the frequencies in the range of 250 cps (cycles per second). This is close to the body's own biological frequency. Active psychics and healers, however, registered in a band between 400 and 800 cps. Trance specialists and chanellers registered in a narrow field of 800-900 cps, but from 900 cps onwards Hunt correlated what she termed 'mystical personalities' who had a firm sense of the cosmic interconnections between everything. They were anchored in reality, possessed psychic and healing abilities, were able to enter deep trance states, yet had transcended and unified the separate experiences through a mystic, holistic, metaphysical philosophy."

Vibrations of Chakras
Each chakra has a different frequency of vibration, symbol, color, and sound that it is attuned to. When the chakra is balanced, clear, and energized it would be in tune and play the most wonderful sound of it’s own, emitting the proper vibration for that chakra. Many things can effect the vibrations including sounds of voice, drums, music, chants, mantras, the vibrational energy of colors, and of course gemstones. All colors and sounds are vibrations and using the sounds and colors of the chakras assist them in becoming aligned and balanced. The colors of the chakras are that of the rainbow; starting at the root chakra black/red, orange, yellow, green/pink, light blue, indigo, and violet/white for the seventh chakra; as shown in the picture above.

Each chakra needs to be able to function at the correct frequency independently. Each needs to be balanced, clear, energized, and properly spinning. Each time all the chakras reach a level of unison the entire physical vibration of the human body is raised

The chakra system functions as a map of one’s evolutionary challenges (Ballentine, 1999). Each chakra contains a spiritual life-lesson that we must master in our evolution towards higher consciousness. In brief, the first chakra resonates with the life-lesson of survival; the second with sexuality and creativity; the third with personal power, assertiveness, and self-esteem; the fourth with love and forgiveness; the fifth with expression and will; the sixth with intuition, wisdom, and beliefs; and the seventh with transcendence and presence (Myss, 1996; Eden, 1998).

. Think of a scale of one to ten, with ten being the highest and best. Next, think of each chakra needing to be at the same number on that scale. Once each individual chakra is at the same number your entire physical, emotional, mental, and spiritual body raises into its own new vibrational level to match that of the chakras. The more chakra energy work you do the higher your whole body will be raised on this scale with ten being enlightenment while still in this physical human form

Mark Robert Waldman: Why did you choose to use the 2500 year old chakra system as a way for understanding health and illness, rather than, say, acupuncture or Taoist medicine?

Dr. John Nelson: Although a number of models have been proposed concerning the various stages of consciousness and spiritual development, there was little agreement between them about what those stages were like. So when I came across the ancient Tantric teachings concerning the chakra, I found them to be an ideal metaphor to characterize the way we expand our consciousness as we progress through life. I was delighted, for it matched my deepest intuitions derived from my own spiritual practice.

Today, the chakra system remains a cornerstone in modern Oriental medicine and psychiatry, and is considered a "hard" science in Asian medical schools. It is integral to the practice of acupuncture, which is a proven technique of healing throughout much of the world. Each chakra level reflects a more advanced stage of development in terms of personal relationships, ethics, religious attitudes, and illnesses related to these situations. Furthermore, the chakras can be easily be viewed in psychological terms, as Jung did when he called them "intuitions about the psyche as a whole, about its various conditions and possibilities."

Dr. John Nelson is certified by the American Board of Psychiatry and Neurology, and is a physician at a psychiatric hospital in Southern California

When a person suffers trauma, one or more of the chakras becomes unbalanced, their colours fade or darken, their rhythm becomes erratic, blockages form in the flow of energy through the body and chemical levels become unsettled.
For instance, when you are about to sit an exam you feel nervous and your solar plexus chakra, which relates to feelings and is located just below your sternum, becomes disturbed and unbalanced. The solar plexus is directly linked to the pancreas, so this disturbed condition results in the wrong amount of pancreatic juices being released into the stomach. This abnormal increase of chemicals makes your tummy feel uneasy and you may start to feel sick.

What is Chakra Balance, and why is it important?

"An “imbalance” in your Chakras can somtimes point to the idea that some Chakras are over-active, and some are under-active. Many people who are new to the ideas of “Chakra balancing” and “Chakra healing” mistakenly think that means “opening the Chakras”. Just like anything else in life, the keyword is “balance”, not too much, and not too little. Since the Chakras receive and transmit energy (which translates into psychic, emotional and physical energy) too much or too little may effect the way we think, act and feel;

Pathology alters the biomagnetic field

In the 1920’s and 1930’s, a distinguished researcher at Yale University School of Medicine, Harold Saxon Burr, suggested that diseases could be detected in the energy field of the body before physical symptoms appear. Moreover, Burr was convinced that diseases could be prevented by altering the energy field.

These concepts were ahead of their time, but are now being confirmed in medical research laboratories around the world. Scientists are using SQUID instruments to map the ways diseases alter biomagnetic fields around the body. Others are applying pulsating magnetic fields to stimulate healing. Again, sensitive individuals have been describing these phenomena for a long time, but there was no logical explanation of how it could happen

When all chakras are balanced ourbody’s energies flow freely through the chakras
without blockages and so, allows, the body to function at its optimum.

The Root Chakra is located at the base of the spine, and red is its activating color.

The Sacral Chakra is located one inch below the naval and orange is its activating color

Symptoms of Inbalance When Unbalanced you may experience: Violence, anger, constipation, survival fears.

An unbalanced/ undercharged Root Chakra can have symptoms of a feeling of a lost trust in life, worry regarding future events, and/or you could also experience
cold hands/cold feet, digestion problems, and back problems..
Someone with good balance will be sexually well-adjusted, have a strong libido, know how to set healthy boundaries in relationships, and be able to use their creativity constructively.

Symptoms of Inbalance When Unbalanced you may experience: Sexual problems, jealousy, possessiveness, uterine or bladder problems, lower back pain.

The sacral chakra is linked to the sexual glands. It becomes unbalanced if we have low self-esteem or feel we cannot express our emotions or creativity freely. The physical symptoms of unbalance are lower back pain, fertility problems, fibroids, cystitis and kidney complaints. A Person with a healthy sacral chakra can freely express their emotions.

The Solar Plexus Chakra is located just above the naval and yellow is its activating color.

The Heart Chakra is located in the middle of the chest and green is its activating color

Symptoms of Inbalance When Unbalanced you may experience: Lack of will, overemphasis on power, anger, poor digestion, eating disorders, fear, and hate.

The solar plexus Chakra,is linked to the pancreas, is affected by our feelings and personality. If we are controlled by our emotions, feel uncaring, quick tempered, violent or despairing we are more likely to suffer with digestive problems, food allergies, diabetes, ulcers, gallstones and liver complaints. A balanced chakra enables a person to express their emotions easily, whether those emotions are happiness, passion and joy or rage, anger and sadness, and they feel full of energy and vitality

Symptoms of Inbalance When Unbalanced you may experience: Anger, heart problems, rigidity, lack of love

The heart chakra is linked to the thymus, and becomes unbalanced when we are emotionally hurt, jealous or heart broken. Physical problems include heart conditions and lung problems, high blood pressure, breast cancer and fatigue.
A person with a balanced heart chakra feels love and compassion without expectations from others.

The Throat Chakra is located at the hollow dip of the throat and light blue is its activating color

The Third Eye or Brow Chakra is located on the forehead and Indigo is its activating color

Symptoms of Inbalance When Unbalanced you may experience: Difficulty communicating, emotions caught in the throat. When people suffer from headaches (perhaps migraine) and tension within the neck and shoulder muscles often the basic cause is that the throat chakra has become blocked

The throat chakra, linked to the thyroid gland, represents communication, and becomes problematic when we have difficulty expressing ourselves verbally or we feel restless or anxious. Symptoms include sore throats, thyroid problems, mouth ulcers, teeth and gum conditions, headaches and ear infections.

A healthy throat chakra results in feelings of peace, harmony and stillness and the ability to communicate freely.

Symptoms of Inbalance When Unbalanced you may experience: Headaches, poor eyesight, lack of concentration.

The brow chakra is linked to the pineal gland, and is unbalanced when someone is closed-minded or dismissive or spiritual matters. Physical problems can be learning difficulties, brain tumour, blindness, deafness, pain, dyslexia and insomnia.

A balanced chakra results in an open mind, insight and knowledge, and a calm mind.

The Crown Chakra is located on the top of the head and violet in color is its activating color

Symptoms of Inbalance When Unbalanced you may experience: Depression, lack of grounding, lack of inspiration, feeling of being disconnected from your spiritual source.

The crown chakra is linked to the pituitary gland. its role would be very similar to that of the pituitary gland, which secretes hormones to control the rest of the endocrine system, and also connects to the central nervous system via the hypothalamus.

When it is unbalanced a client may experience disorientation and constant worry, and related illnesses include depression, paralysis and multiple sclerosis.

I

When this chakra is balanced clients report feeling peaceful and at one with the universe.

Each of the seven major chakras connects one’s energy to the major nerve plexuses on the spinal column, the glands in the endocrine system, and the specific systems of the If a chakra is blocked it will eventually manifest on the physical dimension in the form of an illness (Brennan, 1987; Myss, 1996).Source

"Perhaps modern science hasn’t found the chakras because they have not been looking at the right place. In 2007, Sandra and Mathew Blakeslee published a book entitled The Body has a Mind of its Own. In this book, they traced the history of “body maps”from the time of neuro-scientist Alfred Penfield. According to the book, Penfield successfully identified the functions of specific parts of the brain that run our bodies. He called this body map the humunculus which translates as “little man” in latin. The advancement of neuroscience has led to the discovery of more body maps within the brain. Now more than ever, we are seeing that the body is a mirror of the “the little man” on the top floor, the one inside the skull.

We now know which part of the brain thinks of certain things. The footprints of the psyche can be observed at work during brain scans. We now know which part of the brain lights up when we think of food, sex, religion or our next door neighbor.

If we were to overlay a diagram of the chakras on a the human brain we will find a surprising match. It is as though the chakras are running down a little man crouched in a fetal position inside our skulls. The amazing coincidence is, notonly are the parts of the brain consistent with the thought processes of the chakra groupings, they are also the exact anatomical equivalents of the human body." Energising The Chakras

Energy is a theme that permeates many areas of complementary health care, including Reiki. For historic and emotional reasons, two key words have not been mentionable in polite academic research society: "energy" and "touch." Hence it is not surprising that Reiki therapy has been neglected by mainstream biomedical science.

According to one study, reiki produced "10 mGauss order bio-magnetic field strength from the palm" (PubMed, Seto A. et al.: Detection of extraordinary large bio-magnetic field strength from human hand during external Qi emission),

The fourth chakra stresses something more, which is universal love -- what the ancient Greeks referred to as "Agape," -- a wondrous, non-possessive love as distinguished from the romantic raptures of the second and third chakras. Love at those levels is characterized by seduction and jealousy, dominance and dependence, and attachment to an idealized object. The aim of lower chakra love is to quell a feeling of emptiness, but at the heart chakra one feels an inner abundance that saturates the self with a desire to share freely for the good of all. Saintly figures like Mother Teresa, Mahatma Gandhi, and the Virgin Mary epitomize the consciousness of the heart chakra.
John Nelson, M.D.

Projection of energy from the hands of healers.

In the early 1980’s, Dr. John Zimmerman began a series of important studies on therapeutic touch, using a SQUID magnetometer at the University of Colorado School of Medicine in Denver. Zimmerman discovered that a huge pulsating biomagnetic field emanated from the hands of a TT practitioner. The frequency of the pulsations is not steady, but "sweeps" up and down, from 0.3 to 30 Hz (cycles per second), with most of the activity in the range of 7-8 Hz (Figure 2). The biomagnetic pulsations from the hands are in the same frequency range as brain waves and scientific studies of the frequencies necessary for healing indicate that they naturally sweep back and forth through the full range of therapeutic frequencies, thus being able to stimulate healing in any part of the body.

The first chakra is similar to what Freud called the oral stage of life. During the crucial three-year span that follows conception, the foundations of selfhood form within what is initially an unbounded field of consciousness, which is what I refer to as the Spiritual Ground. Consciousness is everywhere, and the newborn child lives within it in a state of blissful communion and unity. The primary concern at this stage of consciousness is survival and individuation. Western psychologists such as Piaget, Mahler, Kohut, and Grof have described this stage in great detail. Dr. John Nelson

Confirmation of Zimmerman’s findings came in 1992, when Seto and colleagues, in Japan, studied practitioners of various martial arts and other healing methods. The "Qi emission" from the hands is so strong that they can be detected with a simple magnetometer consisting of two coils, of 80,000 turns of wire. Since then, a number of studies of QiGong practitioners have extended these investigations to the sound, light, and thermal fields emitted by healers. What is particularly interesting is that the pulsation frequency varies from moment to moment. Moreover, medical researchers developing pulsating magnetic field therapies are finding that these same frequencies are effective for ‘ jump starting’ healing in a variety of soft and hard tissues, even in patients unhealed for as long as 40 years. Specific frequencies stimulate the growth of nerves, bones, skin, capillaries, and ligaments. Of course Reiki practitioners and their patients have daily experiences of the healing process being "jump started," and academic medicine is now beginning to accept this therapy as logical and beneficial because of these new scientific findings.

In Figure 2 we have bracketed portions of the signal that correspond to the frequencies used in medical devices that stimulate the healing of particular tissues. Individual differences in energy projection and detection. Source

" I used to be skeptical of the existence of chakras and dismissed them as some strange esoteric nonsense, but about a year ago I visited an energy healer and he said, "Your throat chakra is blocked. I'm going to unblock it." Prior to seeing him, I always had difficulties with verbal communication- I would often want to say something, and find myself not being able to speak the words. It was frustrating. After seeing him, I have never had any issues in this area (and I didn't even tell him that I was having these issues). Weird. I don't know how it all works, but I am interested enough to want to read more. Thanks!"

Crystals and the Chakras
Using Stones and crystals to balance the body's Chakras

Crystal energy is emitted as a vibration, which interacts with the electromagnetic energy field in and around us, in ways that may seem imperceptible. For example, the crystal may emit subtle vibrational colour frequencies, or sound vibrations that resonate outside of our conscious awareness to fine-tune our electromagnetic field. In essence, the energy frequency (or resonating life force) of a crystal is like a wave song that evokes an association, memory or emotion.

"Specific frequencies and patterns of electromagnetic radiation regulate DNA, RNA and protein syntheses, alter protein shape and function, and control gene regulation, cell division, cell differentiation, morphogenesis (the process by which cells assemble into organs and tissues), hormone secretion, nerve growth and function." 111, ~ Bruce Lipton, Biology of Belief.

Crystal therapy practitioners state that sickness, stress, and impurities alter the natural frequency of the body, causing some areas of the body to be unable to receive the necessary energy. Therapists assert that crystals have pure and constant vibrations. Therefore, they are able to correct the imbalance in the human body; the Frequency given off by stones is able to balance, clean, and re-energize the energy field of humans. .

It is easy to dismiss the idea of a chakra science, especially if you are one of a completely rational, or really scientific, mind. But the true genius will take the time to see how these ideas relate to each other and not how one is “right” or “wrong.” As the scientific knowledge grows, the understanding and power of our chakras grows as well.

JN: To achieve both psychological and spiritual maturity, we must heal the centuries-old split between East and West, between science and spirituality, and between psychology and religion. And if Western religions are to regain their relevance, they must return to developing and teaching spiritual technology -- those time-proven and culture-relevant techniques for expanding human consciousness. The main point I'm making is that neither religion nor science alone can help realign people towards an upward course of human evolution. Science has made profound contributions, but for all its wonders, it has failed to find a solution for humanity's penchant for war, nor for directing more love and empathy to our child raising, nor for fostering compassion in our healers. Yet it is my hope that by affirming the universal love and compassion of the heart chakra, we can reach a turning point in our spiritual and evolutionary growth, reuniting us with our Source.
