IN ACUTE AND CHRONIC DISEASES

Magnesium is nothing short of a miracle mineral
in its healing effect on a wide range of diseases
as well as in its ability to rejuvenate the aging
body. We know that it is essential for many enzyme
reactions, especially in regard to cellular energy
production, for the health of the brain and nervous
system and also for healthy teeth and bones. However,
it may come as a surprise that in the form of magnesium
chloride it is also an impressive infection fighter
magnesium + chlorine magnesium chloride.

Back in 1915, a French surgeon, Prof. Pierre Delbet,
MD, was looking for a solution to cleanse wounds,
because he had found out that the traditional antiseptic
solutions actually mortified tissues and facilitated
the infection instead of preventing it.
He tested several mineral solutions and discovered
that a Magnesium Chloride solution was not only harmless
for tissues, but it had also a great effect over
leucocytic activity and phagocytosis; so it was perfect
for external wounds treatment.
Dr. Delbet performed a lot of "in vitro" and "in
vivo" experiments with this solution and he
became aware that it was good not only for external
applications, but it was also a powerful immuno-stimulant
if taken by injections or even by mouth. He called
this effect "cytophilaxis". In some "in
vivo" experiments it was able to increase phagocytosis
rate up to 300%.
Dr. Delbet serendipitously discovered that this
oral solution had also a tonic effect on many people
and so became aware that the Magnesium Chloride had
an effect on the whole organism.
|Many studies have shown an increased cancer
rate in regions with low magnesium levels in
soil and drinking water. In Egypt the cancer
rate was only about 10% of that in Europe and
America. In the rural fellah it was practically
non-existent. The main difference was an extremely
high magnesium intake of 2.5 to 3 g in these
cancer-free populations, ten times more than
in most western countries.
In a brief time, he received communications
of very good therapeutics effects of this "therapy" from
people that were taking Magnesium Chloride for its
tonic properties and who were suffering from various

and verified that the Magnesium Chloride solution
was a very good therapy for a long list of diseases.

He obtained very good results in: colitis, angiocholitis
and cholecystitis in the digestive apparatus; Parkinson's
Disease, senile tremors and muscular cramps in the
nervous system; acne, eczema, psoriasis, warts, itch
of various origins and chilblains in the skin. There
was a strengthening of hair and nails, a good effect
on diseases typical of the aged (impotency, prostatic
hypertrophy, cerebral and circulatory troubles) and
on diseases of allergic origin (hay-fever, asthma,
urticaria and anaphylactic reactions).
|Researchers at the Lille Pasteur Institute
found in a prospective study with over 4,000
men over an 18-year follow up period that high
levels of magnesium were associated with a
50 percent decrease in cancer mortality, and
a 40 percent decrease in cardiovascular and
all-cause mortality ("Zinc, Copper and
Magnesium and Risks for All-Cause Cancer, and
Cardiovascular Mortality" Epidemiology,
Vol. 17, No. 3, May 2006, epidem.com).
Then Prof. Delbet began to investigate
the relationship between Magnesium and Cancer. After
a lot of clinical and experimental studies, he found
that Magnesium Chloride had a very good effect on
prevention of cancer and that it was able to cure
several precancerous conditions: leucoplasia, hyperkeratosis,
chronic mastitis, etc.
Epidemiological studies confirmed Delbet's views
and demonstrated that the regions with soil more
rich in magnesium had less cancer incidence, and
vice versa. In experimental studies, the Magnesium
Chloride solution was also able to slow down the
course of cancer in laboratory animals.
|Dr Seeger and Dr Budwig in Germany have
shown that cancer is mainly the result of a
faulty energy metabolism in the powerhouses
of the cells, the mitochondria. A similar decline
in energy production takes place when we age.
The great majority of enzymes involved in the
production of energy require magnesium. A healthy
cell has high magnesium and low calcium levels.
Up to 30% of the energy of cells is used to
pump calcium out of the cells. The higher the
calcium level and the lower the magnesium level
in the extra-cellular fluid, the harder is
it for cells to pump the calcium out. The result
is that with low magnesium levels the mitochondria
gradually calcify and energy production decreases.
We may say that our biochemical age is determined
by the ratio of magnesium to calcium within
our cells. Test with Chronic Fatigue Syndrome
showed that magnesium supplementation resulted
in better energy levels.More
Prof. Delbet wrote two books, "Politique Preventive
du Cancer" (1944) and "L'Agriculture et
la Santé" (1945), in which he stated
his ideas about cancer prevention and a better living.
The first is a well documented report of all his
studies on Magnesium Chloride.
In 1943 another French doctor, A. Neveu, MD, used
the Magnesium Chloride solution in a case of diphteria
to reduce the risks of anaphylactic reaction due
to the anti-diphteric serum that he was ready to
administer. To his great surprise, when the next
day the laboratory results confirmed the diagnosis
of diphteria, the little girl was completely cured,
before he could use the serum.
He credited the immuno-stimulant activity to the
solution for this result, and he tested it in some
other diphteric patients. All the patients were cured
in a very short time (24-48 hours), with no after-effects.
As Magnesium Chloride has no direct effect on bacteria
(i.e.it is not an antibiotic ), Neveu thought that
its action was aspecific, immuno-enhancing, so it
could be useful, in the same manner, also against

first organs to calcify are the ovaries, leading
to pre-menstrual tension. When he put his patients
on a high magnesium intake their PMT vanished
and they felt and looked much younger. Most
of these women said that they lost weight,
increased their energy, felt less depressed
and enjoyed sex again much more than before.
For men it is equally beneficial for problems
arising from an enlarged prostate gland. Symptoms
commonly improve after a period of supplementation
with magnesium chloride.
So he began to treat some cases of
poliomyelitis, and had the same wonderful results.
He was very excited and tried to divulge the therapy,
but he ran into a wall of hostility and obstructionism
from "Official Medicine". Neither Neveu
nor Delbet (who was a member of the Academy of Medicine)
was able to diffuse Neveu's extraordinary results.
The opposition was total: Professors of Medicine,
Medical Peer-Reviews, the Academy itself, all were
against the two doctors. "Official Medicine" saw
in Magnesium Chloride Therapy a threat to its new
and growing business: vaccinations.
Dr.Neveu wasn't discouraged by this and continued
to test this therapy in a wide range of diseases.
He obtained very good results in: pharyngitis, tonsillitis,
hoarseness, common cold, influenza, asthma, bronchitis,
broncho-pneumonia, pulmonary emphysema, "children
diseases" (whooping-cough, measles, rubella,
mumps, scarlet fever...), alimentary and professional
poisonings, gastroenteritis, boils, abscesses, erysipelas,
whitlow, septic pricks (wounds), puerperal fever
and osteomyelitis. But the indications for Magnesium
Chloride therapy don't end here.
Magnesium is mainly found inside the cells,
it activates many enzymes and is necessary
for the metabolism of carbohydrates, fats and
amino acids. It is essential for the functions
of muscles and nerves and for the formation
of bones and teeth. Generally it counteracts
and regulates the influence of calcium.
Some early signs of magnesium deficiency are
loss of appetite, nausea, vomiting, fatigue,
and weakness. Increased deficiency may show
as numbness, tingling, muscle contractions
and cramps, seizures, personality changes,
abnormal heart rhythms, and coronary spasms.
Severe deficiency results in low levels of
calcium in the blood (hypocalcemia), and is
also associated with low levels of potassium
in the blood (hypokalemia).
Deficiency Symptoms & Increased
CIRCULATION: angina, arteriosclerosis/atherosclerosis,
diabetes, hypertension, high cholesterol, heart
infarcts, , strokes, tachycardia (fast pulse),
DIGESTIVE SYSTEM: colic,
constipation, chronic diarrhoea, malabsorption,
pancreatitis (inflammation of the pancreas).
MUSCLES: backache, convulsions,
cramps, increased excitability/jumpiness, numbness,
nystagmus (rapid eye movements), spasms, tense/tight
muscles, tingling, tremors.
NERVOUS SYSTEM: apathy, confusion,
depression, disorientation, epilepsy, hallucinations,
irritability, mental illness, multiple sclerosis,
nervousness, neuritis paranoia, Parkinson's
disease, poor memory, senility.
GENERAL: alcoholism, arthritis,
body odours, broken bones, calcification in
any organ, cancer, Chronic Fatigue Syndrome,
diabetes, eclampsia, headaches, infections
and inflammations, liver cirrhosis, lupus erythematosus,
migraines, old age, prostate problems, rickets,
rigidity - mental and physical, skin wrinkled
and tough, stiffness, stone-formation in gall
bladder or kidneys, thyroid overactive.
In more recent years other physicians have verified
many of Delbet's and Neveu's applications and have
tried the therapy in other pathologies: asthmatic
acute attack, shock, tetanus (for these the solution
is administered by intravenous injection); herpes
zoster, acute and chronic conjunctivitis, optic neuritis,
rheumatic diseases, many allergic diseases, spring-asthenia
and Cronic Fatigue Syndrome (even in cancer it can
be an useful adjuvant).
Magnesium for Nerves
Magnesium has a calming effect on the nervous system.
With this, it is frequently used to promote good
sleep. But more importantly, it can be used to calm
irritated and over-excited nerves. This is especially
useful with epileptic seizures, convulsions in pregnant
women and the 'shakes' in alcoholism. Magnesium levels
are generally low in alcoholics, contributing or
causing many of their health problems. If magnesium
levels are low, the nerves lose control over muscle
activity, respiration and mental processes. Nervous
fatigue, tics and twitches, tremors, irritability,
hypersensitivity, muscle spasms, restlessness, anxiety,
confusion, disorientation and irregular heartbeat
all respond to increased magnesium levels. A common
phenomenon of magnesium deficiency is a sharp muscle
reaction to an unexpected loud noise. 'Memory pills'
have been marketed that consist mainly of magnesium.

Many of the symptoms of Parkinson's
disease can be overcome with high magnesium supplementation,
shaking can be prevented and rigidity eased. With
preeclampsia pregnant women may develop convulsions,
nausea, dizziness and headaches. In hospitals this
is treated with magnesium infusions. Because of its
strong relaxing effect, magnesium helps not only
to have a better sleep but is also useful in overcoming
headaches and migraines. Even the number of suicides
are linked to magnesium deficiency. The lower the
magnesium content in soil and water in a given region,
the higher are the rates of suicides.
Epilepsy is marked by abnormally low magnesium levels
in the blood, spinal fluid and brain, causing hyperexcitability
in regions of the brain. There are many reported
causes of epilepsy greatly improving or disappearing
with magnesium supplementation. In a trial with 30
epileptics 450 mg of magnesium supplied daily successfully
controlled seizures. Another study found that the
lower the magnesium blood levels the more severe
was the epilepsy. In most cases magnesium works best
in combination with vitamin B6 and zinc. In sufficient
concentrations, magnesium inhibits convulsions by
limiting or slowing the spread of the electric discharge
from an isolated group of brain cells to the rest
of the brain. Animal studies show that even the initial
burst of firing nerve cells that starts an epileptic
attack can be suppressed with magnesium.
Magnesium for the
Adequate levels of magnesium are essential for the
heart muscle. Those who die from heart attacks have
very low magnesium but high calcium levels in their
heart muscles. Patients with coronary heart disease
who have been treated with large amounts of magnesium
survived better than those with drug treatment. Magnesium
dilates the arteries of the heart and lowers cholesterol
and fat levels.
High calcium levels, on the other hand, constrict
the heart arteries and increase the risk of heart
attacks. Calcium deposits in the walls of the arteries
contribute to the development of arteriosclerosis.
The arteries become hard and rigid, thereby restricting
the blood flow and causing high blood pressure. In
addition, such inelastic blood vessels may easily
rapture and cause strokes. Countries with the highest
calcium to magnesium ratios (high calcium and low
magnesium levels) in soil and water have the highest
incidence of cardiovascular disease
Magnesium and Emotions
The Department of Family Medicine, Pomeranian Medical
Academy, states that dietetic factors can play a
significant role in the origin of ADHD and that magnesium
deficiency can result in disruptive behaviors. Even
a mild deficiency of magnesium can cause increased
sensitivity to noise, nervousness, irritability,
mental depression, confusion, twitching, trembling,
apprehension, and insomnia. All of these signs and
symptoms lead to heart ache and heart break. Magnesium
holds a huge potential as a first line medicine for
psychologists and psychiatrists though it would damage
the pharmaceutical companies mightily because of
the vast decrease in need for their extremely dangerous
and toxic psychotropic drugs.
Magnesium for Healthy
Bones & Teeth
Medical authorities claim that the widespread incidence
of osteoporosis and tooth decay in western countries
can be prevented with a high calcium intake. However,
published evidence reveals that the opposite is true.
Asian and African populations with a very low intake
of about 300 mg of calcium daily have very little
osteoporosis. Bantu women with an intake of 200 to
300 mg of calcium daily have the lowest incidence
of osteoporosis in the world. In western countries
with a high intake of dairy products the average
calcium intake is about 1000 mg. The higher the calcium
intake, especially in the form of cows' milk products
(except butter) the higher the incidence of osteoporosis.
Calcium, magnesium and phosphorus levels are kept
in a seesaw balance by the parathyroid hormones.
If calcium goes up, magnesium goes down and vice
versa. With a low magnesium intake, calcium goes
out of the bones to increase tissue levels, while
a high magnesium intake causes calcium to go out
of the tissues into the bones. A high phosphorus
intake without a high calcium or magnesium intake
causes calcium to leach from the bones and leave
the body with the urine. A high phosphorus intake
with high calcium and magnesium leads to bone mineralisation.
Dr Barnett, an orthopaedic surgeon practised in
two different U.S. Counties with very different soil
and water mineral levels. In Dallas County with a
high calcium and low magnesium concentration osteoporosis
and hip fractures were very common, while in Hereford
with high magnesium and low calcium these were nearly
absent. In Dallas County the magnesium content of
bones was 0.5% while in Hereford it was 1.76%. In
another comparison the magnesium content in bones
of osteoporosis sufferers was 0.62% while in healthy
individuals it was 1.26%.
Does magnesium chloride work on osteoporosis,
bursitis and arthrosis?
Yes, because it regulates the whole calcium
metabolism. It fixes the calcium where it
should be, for example, on osteopenias, and
osteoporosis and removes the calcium from
where it should not be, from arteries, joints,
it removes calcium oxalate stones from kidneys
removes general calcifications in calcified
bursitis. It removes the calcium when it
is in the wrong place and fixes the calcium
where there is a deficiency provided that
at the same time the person has a diet rich
in calcium, so for those who take magnesium
chloride there is no risk at all of taking
There is a risk of excess calcium, arteries
and joints calcification for those who are
not taking magnesium, which regulates the
distribution of calcium, in this case really
there is a risk.
Many people think that those who have
arteriosclerosis cannot take calcium because
it will harden the arteries, it will, if
is not taken with magnesium, but if taken
along with magnesium, no, because the calcium
is only going to fix where it should be.
The magnesium is the regulator of calcium.

The preceding lists of ailments are by no means
exhaustive; maybe other illnesses can be treated
with this therapy but, as this is a relatively "young" treatment,
we are pioneers, and we need the help of all physicians
of good will to definitely establish all the true
possibilities of this wonderful therapy.
From a practical standpoint, please remember that
only Magnesium CHLORIDE has this "cytophilactic" activity,
and no other magnesium salt; probably it's a molecular,
and not a merely ionic, matter.
The solution to be used is a 2.5% Magnesium Chloride
hexahydrate (MgCl2-6H2O) solution (i.e.: 25 grams
/ 1 liter of water).
Dosages are as follows:
- Adults and children over 5 years old..................
- 4 year old children..............................................100
- 3 year old children................................................80
- 1-2 year old children.............................................60
- over 6 months old children....................................30
- under 6 months old children..................................15
These doses must be administered BY MOUTH. The only
contraindication to Magnesium Chloride Therapy is
a severe renal insufficiency. As the magnesium chloride
has a mild laxative effect, diarrhea sometimes appears
on the first days of therapy, expecially when high
dosages (i.e. three doses a day) are taken; but this
is not a reason to stop the therapy.
The taste of the solution is not very good (it has
a bitter-saltish flavor) so a little of fruit juice
(grapefruit, orange, lemon) can be added to the solution,
or it can be even used in the place of water to make
the solution itself.
Grapefruit juice masks the bitter taste very well
(expecially if cold).
For CHRONIC diseases the standard treatment is one
dose morning and evening for a long period (several
months at least, but it can be continued for years).
In ACUTE diseases the dose is administered every
6 hours (every 3 hours the first two doses if the
case is serious); then space every 8 hours and then
12 hours as improvement goes on. After recovery it's
better going on with a dose every 12 hours for some
As a PREVENTIVE measure, and as a magnesium supplement,
one dose a day can be taken indefinitely. Magnesium
Chloride, even if it's an inorganic salt, is very
well absorbed and it's a very good supplemental magnesium
For INTRAVENOUS injection, the formula is:

Make injections of 10-20cc (very slowly, over 10-20
minutes) once or twice a day. Of course the solution
must be sterilized.
This therapy gives very good results also in Veterinary
Medicine, at the appropriate dosages depending upon
the size and kind of animals.

severe kidney problems (severe renal insufficiency
when on dialysis), and also with myasthenia gravis.
