Sound, especially music, can be relaxing as well as inspiring. Music is used for mental health therapy, pain reduction, and the much acclaimed "Mozart Effect"--the finding that college students who listen to Mozart for 10 minutes a day perform better on spatial-temporal tests.

Athletes have known for years that listening to music alters their state of consciousness and helps them to perform at higher levels.
