Colloidal Silver The ancient Romans and Greeks found that liquids would stay fresher longer if put in silver containers. Our own American pioneers found that a silver dollar put in a jug of milk would delay spoilage. They also found that if they would keep their silverware "hidden" in their water barrel that the water would not go bad.
The early discovery that water, wine, milk and vinegar stayed pure longer in silver vessels, led to its desirability as a container for long voyages. Herodotus (79 A.D.) wrote that Cyrus the Great, King of Persia (550-529 B.C.), a man of vision who established a board of health and a medical dispensary for his citizens, had water drawn from a special stream, "boiled, and very many four wheeled wagons drawn by mules carry it in silver vessels, following the king wheresoever he goes at any time." Some people wonder why the FDA would allow such a powerful antibiotic to be sold over the counter without a prescription. There are two reasons: The reason is that true colloidal silver is a Pre-1938 drug (by over fifty years) and so the FDA has stated that it may continue to be marketed (grand fathered) provided it was produced and marketed for the same purposes as it was prior to 1938. Under the heading “Our Mightiest Germ Fighter”, Science Digest, a highly respected publication, opened their March 1978 article with: “Thanks to eye-opening research, silver is emerging as a wonder of modern medicine. An antibiotic kills perhaps a half-dozen different disease organisms, but silver kills some 650. Resistant strains fail to develop. Moreover, silver is virtually non-toxic, says pioneering silver researcher, Dr. Harry Margraf of St. Louis. “Silver is the best all around germ-fighter we have” According to the book: The Wonders of Colloidal Silver by Dhyana L. Coburn & Patrick D. Dignan, test results at the UCLA Medical Labs at the UCLA School of Medicine in 1988 by Larry C. Ford, M.D. of the Department of Obstetrics and Gynecology,¹ (Colloidal Silver, The Antibiotic Alternative, Lloyd Michael Canty and Zane Baranowski) and other researchers show Colloidal Silver killed every virus on which it was tested.
The Three Medicinal Properties of Silver 1. The infection fighting, biocidal properties demonstrated by silver. 2. The tissue healing properties of silver, as demonstrated by altered cell morphology resulting in increased ( and healthy ) cell reproduction. 3. The electrical stimulation properties of colloidal silver ( it is theorized that colloidal solutions with an increased zeta potential assist the body to regain health through various means which are not yet fully understood ). Included in this classification would be catalyst reactions in the body with substances like minute amounts of hydrogen peroxide. To carry the fight to fungal infection, one must firstly understand fungal growths. A fungus is a series of single cells that have small tubes of the material from which the cell is made, which stretches between the cell walls. Alternative Lois Collins of Deseret News quotes Dr. Leavitt as writing "The data suggests that with the low toxicity associated with colloidal silver, in general, and the broad spectrum of antimicrobial activity of this colloidal silver preparation, this preparation may be effectively used as an alternative to antibiotics." The original study tested ASAP colloidal silver against tetracyclines, fluorinated quinolones (Ofloxacin), the penicillins, the cephalosporins (Cefaperazone) and the macrolides (Erythromycin).
